ADDISON - It's been a long time since there was a full-scale festival at WaterTower Theatre, but with the Out of The Loop Festival, the complex has been exuberantly reactivated. The weekend's events included readings and full stagings of plays from new and established authors and companies.

Saturday's offerings included Audacity Productions' An Apology For the Course and Outcome of Certain Events as Delivered By Doctor John Faustus on this his Final Evening by Mickle Maher of Chicago. Brad McEntire plays Faustus, who has sold his soul and is about to make his final descent into hell. Mr. McEntire's performance is fine, but the tedious, overwritten script is likely to leave viewers, in Faustus' words, "magnificently, gigantically annoyed."
