In first-time playwright Lief Woods' script, a humble farm boy takes God to court for breach of contract. Like Ayn Rand's "Night of January 16th," the audience will serve as jury.
NewYork.CitySearch.com: Readers' Buzz - 8/24/00
***** This production about a gullible midwestern farm boy who is tricked by a deviant angel into suing God for Breach of Contract is alternately achingly funny and bitterly dramatic. The story moves back and forth between the courtroom, with various angels as witness, and the events of Slick's memories that lead up to the trial. The audience decides who wins the trial, too. A collaborative effort by two relatively new companies, Audacity Productions (out of Texas) and Pop Culture Poets (based here in New York) brings this world-premiere to the stage with excellent performances and something genuinely important to say within the context of the play.
